A Modest Statement of Purpose
When I returned to my hometown of Louisville seven years ago after being away for 35 years, living in Rochester NY, I found myself thinking about Place, Community, Growth, Architecture, Sustainability, Preservation and Change. Louisville changed while I was gone, and it has changed since I returned. I watch that change from a perspective more informed by aesthetics and psychology than economics or politics. I see cities as mental artworks, conceptual pieces meant to leave the viewer/participant somehow different - heightened, engaged, lost in thought. What I want to do here is Think Louisville in a different way and find a way of seeing and understanding it... and perhaps, indirectly, change it further, change it for the better.
